Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing treats wrinkles, blotches, age spots, and facial scars. The thickness and texture of your skin may have an impact on whether or not you are an ideal candidate for the procedure. Local anesthetic is generally used for laser resurfacing in our office. Laser resurfacing creates a uniform injury to the skin, similar to a chemical peel or dermabrasion. Recovery time with laser resurfacing depends on the technique and the extent of the treatment.
MicroLaser Peel™
Removing dead layers of skin and the thin layers of the epidermis helps to smooth the skin’s surface and blend any irregular pigmentation. The MicroLaser Peel™ can improve skin texture and tone by correcting wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring, and excessive sun damage. The procedure is customized to each individual based on their needs. The most commonly treated areas include the face, neck, and hands.
ProFractional Therapy™
This laser therapy treats various skin conditions by resurfacing the skin. However, unlike full field resurfacing, which removes the whole surface area of the skin, ProFractional Therapy™ ablates the skin and covers a smaller portion of the treatment area. This action activates the body’s wound-healing response, which results in new, thicker skin with an improved appearance.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal can remove hair from most areas of the body. A low-energy laser beam passes through the skin and down the shaft of hair follicles that are in the active growth phase. The hair follicles in the deeper layer of the skin become disabled. Because laser hair removal only treats active hair follicles and not all hair follicles are active at the same time, more than one hair removal treatment is usually necessary to achieve the desired results. The treatment takes anywhere from several minutes to several hours to complete depending on the size of the area to be treated. No anesthesia is required because very minimal pain is associated with the treatment. Those considering laser hair removal should note that blonde or gray hair is more difficult for the laser to detect. Patients with darker skin also may not respond well to treatment because skin and hair colors can be difficult for the laser to differentiate.
Spider Vein Treatment
Spider veins, cherry angiomas, broken capillaries, rosacea, and other cosmetic conditions caused by vascular lesions can be precisely targeted with Sciton® lasers. Visible improvement is typically noticeable after just one treatment.

What will my recovery be like following my laser treatment?
Recovery depends on what laser treatment is performed and your unique skin type. Generally, you can expect some redness and swelling for a few days after treatment. Mild flaking or peeling may also occur. Your specific recovery process will be discussed during your consultation based on which laser treatment you plan on receiving.
What results can I expect?
Laser treatments with Sciton® BBL™, Halo™, and Moxi™ are comfortable and require minimal social downtime. Patients who utilize Halo™ and Moxi™ can apply makeup just 24 hours after the procedure, and patients who use Forever Bare BBL™ for hair reduction will see results in as little as two weeks.
What downtime can I expect?
Halo™ typically involves 5–7 days social downtime. Makeup can be applied 2–3 days later. Moxi™ involves a few days downtime, and makeup can be applied after approximately 48 hours.
Is laser skin treatment painful?
Pain management is one of Dr. Thompson’s top priorities. A topical anesthetic may be applied before treatment; most patients experience little discomfort.
How many Forever Bare BBL™ sessions will I need for hair removal?
The laser can only eliminate hair in its active growth cycle. Because the hair has three different growth cycles and all hair is in various phases at a given time, patients will need between four and six sessions to reduce all unwanted hair completely and permanently.
Can I combine Sciton® laser treatments with other procedures?
Yes. Patients often combine laser treatments with other rejuvenation procedures for improved results. We also offer resurfacing and profractional laser services with the Sciton® laser.
Can Moxi™ be combined with other laser treatments?
You can combine your Moxi™ treatment with other Sciton® laser treatments (like BBL Hero™) for even more complexion rejuvenation. This powerful combo can address all skin issues, including eliminating pigment spots, smoothing rough skin, and rejuvenating a dull complexion.
What will my recovery be like after a Moxi™ treatment?
This non-ablative laser is gentle enough to treat large areas of skin at any time of year. Makeup can be applied after 24 hours following the process. Instead of anesthesia, a numbing cream is used for patient comfort, and the treatment is usually complete within half an hour. The skin will be sensitive, with slight swelling and redness common for a while. It is crucial to keep the skin moisturized for ideal recovery. The final impressive results will be evident in less than a week.
